EFC Webinar - May 13 2025

The EFC, in partnership with CEFRACOR, is organising a webinar entitled From Data to Decisions: Leveraging AI and ML in Corrosion Science, Materials Engineering and Management.

Date: May 13, 2025 - 9am - 1pm Paris time (CET time).

This webinar will gather speakers from academia, research and technical centres and industry as well, having the objectives to present their various experiences in Corrosion Science, Materials Engineering and Management.

This willingness to get inputs from different applications, such as the presentation by Prof. David Winkler from the Monash Institute (Pharmaceuticals Sciences), will give the opportunity to understand his approach and new Machine Learning technology and their application into biomaterials, nanomaterials, materials for energy uses for instance, with Prof Nicholas Harrison (Imperial College, London), connecting Molecular Science to Engineering in case of Detection, Prevention and Mitigation of Corrosion. Dr Christian Feller will present AI-driven corrosion inhibitors discovery. Dr Mikhail Zheludkevich from Helmholtz zentrum-Hereon, expert in AI, will be of great contribution as a moderator.

From an industry perspective, Qi Chee & ShiLiang Johnathan from Matcor will show how AI can help to monitor and detect industrial corrosion. More specifically, Christophe Baete from Elsyca will make a focus on the future of Digital Twin for corrosion management and compliance. Antonin Braun from Aquila Data Enabler will present case studies of generative AI related to Documentation, Conformity and Maintenance.

Dr Axel Homborg from the Netherlands Defence Academy will conclude this webinar by moderating a panel discussion about the requirements for ML to earn the trust of asset owners, maintainance contractors and the scientific community. The list of panelists will be announced separately
